Christopher Kane Rivet boots for Topshop

Wearing: F21 plaid shirt (yes, I wore it again;-)), F21 scarf, Rick Owens coat, the Row leather pants/leggings (I've been wearing this leather leggings too much;-) It's comfy, warm, edgy and a great piece for investment).
Since I attended The Crystal Grotto (ice-carved musical instruments performing in a unique ice-theater) in Beaver Creek, Colorado, I started searching more about ice-sculptures. It's fascinating to learn the techniques if creating it. The temperature of the environment affects how quickly the piece must be completed to avoid melting. Ice sculptors use power tools, such as chainsaws and specialty bits fitted to a die grinder. They also use razor-sharp chisels that are specifically designed for cutting ice. Many sculptures are now created largely by machine. Color effects use techniques that includes the addition of colored gels or sand to the ice. The lifetime of a sculpture can last from minutes to possibly months depending on temperature of its environment. There are several ice festivals held around the world, hosting competitions of ice sculpture carving.

While searching this subject, I ran into a Boston Globe website that posted information about an ice sculpture festival in Harbin city in China. It's been displaying and has amazing workmanship. It's interesting and very entertaining to read comments of the post, click here if you're curious.

Here are some ice-sculptures somewhere around the world that I found on google.
haha...this ice-fountain sculpture has no work involved. It naturally froze by the cold of this winter.

Red

Hi everyone,
Before I talk about "Red", I have exciting news. Life-in-Travel got featured in an Irish Fashion Magazine called EVE. Big thank you to Vicki who made this article happen! she has her own fabulous blog at magpie-girl.
RED
I got the cutest tag from Mads to find 7 red things in my room or house. I'm not a red person. But luckily, my living room has been transformed with lots of red during the Christmas season,
so there are tons of red things around me. I'd like to pass this tag to Mom and Son, Bisou-Joue, Mode Junkie, for 7 blue things around the house. I hope you have fun with this tag. Here are my red things:
The Tibet art- watercolor hand painting hanging over fireplace brought home from Tibet; red candles on the mantle; red ribbon; red stockings; red Xmas Santa toys...
Xmas tree with red ornaments. This hand made red quilt with mirrors was bought home by my hubby from India.
Red throws.
This is also something red; Tao sweaters paired with second hand Comme des Garcons skirt, Jil Sander thigh high boots. It was below 40 F degrees when I had these photos taken, I had a thick jacket on but it's not showing in the pics. This year, the weather is much colder, and this reminds me of 15 years ago when I just moved here. The first couple of winters was pretty cold like this year, then it started getting warmer...I've been enjoying this cold, so that I can dress in layers and bring out the leather jacket, sweater, hat, scarf, gloves, boots...especially sitting in front of the fireplace, drinking hot chocolate, telling stories with my hubby and my kids - it is such a cozy feeling. Nice thing about winter in Dallas is that it's cold for a week or so and then it has a couple of warm days to take a break from the cold. It normally snows a couple of times during winter, I wish we had more...beautiful snow! because my kids just love it. Although it's uncomfortable if it's too cold, as it is up north.
Remembering the past posts, we had pics taken for the family Xmas card and this is what it looks like. The kids' pic is more clear in person.
I wish this holiday season brings peace, love, joy to you and your family!!!
Merry Christmas!!!!
Kisses...Hanh ;-)

Murano Glass Chandelier

I talked about Venice in the previous post and I forgot to mention Murano, which is located off the shore of Venice. Murano is a well-known place for producing Murano glass, a famous product of Venice for centuries. It's home to a marvelous glass museum and several glass factories where you can watch these artists work in their own environment. Murano has its own Grand Canal, along with fascinating shops and sidewalk cafes. If Venice is too busy or overrun with tourists, go to Murano for the workshops and watch the fascinating process of making class in order to better appreciate the time, craftsmanship, and its artisanal creation. It's worth a ride to Murano island by water-taxi.
The art of making glass in Murano first made its appearance in the 8th century. The artistry and skill required to create each piece is undeniable, as is the long, elaborate and often arduous process of its making.
This chandelier was bought for our home when we were there. I love the lanterns of this light's design. It is very Asian and shows the details and hand painting. Another fun thing of this style chandelier is that you can add more lanterns into your chandelier, and we did 13 of them because 13 is our lucky number. Now, it is hung on the ceiling of our bedroom and reminds us of our sweet memory of our trip.
New F21 Sweater.
I styled it with my old Alaia skirt, Urban Outfitters body suit, Eddie Bruno necklace, Givenchy boots. Last week, the weather wasn't too cold-69 F during daytime, so I wanted to wear the sheer tights that added softness and sexiness to this outfit. Wish you all a wonderful day!!!
Thank you very much for visiting my blog and your sweet comments. I truly appreciate it as always. Kisses...Hanh ;-)
